Connor Roberts has wanted to sign for Leeds United all month as last-gasp transfer update emerges on Deadline Day

Connor Roberts joining Leeds United is a “real possibility” as the Burnley defender has wanted a move to Elland Road all month, according to Joe Donnohue.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reporter shared via his personal Twitter account on Deadline Day (1 February) that a deal is on course to go through before the 11pm deadline.

There are “lots of moving parts” to the transfer, it is claimed, which includes Burnley’s pursuit of Maxime Esteve and Thomas Meunier as replacements.

Great move

This deal has looked on and off pretty much all window, but it has now got to a point that Leeds fans would be disappointed if it does not go through.

Roberts was named in the Championship Team of the Season last time out and has ample experience at this level.

The Wales international has been used sporadically since Burnley earned promotion to the Premier League, starting eight of their 22 matches.

With his place in the Wales starting line-up for their upcoming crucial upcoming Euro 2024 play-off – or play-offs – possibly under threat, Roberts wants to be playing more regularly.

Burnley understandably want to bring in further cover, so it may well be that this deal goes right up until the deadline.

Leeds must just ensure their half of the bargain is complete so that there are no unwanted glitches late on.

In other Leeds United news, the White are also reportedly working on a deal to sign another defender from the Premier League.
