Leeds United transfer news: Chelsea twist emerges in Archie Brown race

Leeds United, Chelsea, Brentford and West Ham have all scouted the in-demand Gent left-back Archie Brown, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on 4 March that a host of Premier League sides and the likes of Leeds have been looking at him as he could be returning to England in the summer.

The 21-year-old was at Derby County before he left for Lausanne-Sport back in 2021.

Brown may not be heading to Leeds United

The Whites might encounter difficulties in signing Brown due to competition from richer clubs, particularly Chelsea, who are also scouting the English defender.

Chelsea’s interest adds significant weight to the competition for Brown’s signature, as they have the financial resources and Premier League status to offer an enticing proposition.

Additionally, West Ham’s involvement further intensifies the competition, indicating a strong interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Despite Leeds’ promotion-chasing status in the Championship, they may struggle to match the financial offers and prestige that top-flight clubs like Chelsea and potentially West Ham can provide.

Furthermore, if Brown is seeking immediate top-tier football, the allure of playing in the Premier League with established clubs could sway his decision away from the Whites, complicating their pursuit of the talented defender.

Also with Junior Firpo doing well and having put his injury issues behind him, Leeds may not need another left-back in the summer.
