Leeds United stance shared as Millwall make January transfer offer for Charlie Cresswell

Leeds United have received bids from multiple clubs over a deal for Charlie Cresswell, according to Beren Cross.

The LeedsLive journalist added in an update on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (16 January) that a permanent exit looks likely.

Millwall are said to be among the clubs to have made an offer for Cresswell, who has struggled for minutes under Daniel Farke.

The report adds that, if Cresswell does go, it may “ignite a flurry of essential business for Leeds” late in the window.

Let him go

Cresswell does not have a future at Elland Road while Farke is in charge, reflected by the fact he has started just one league game this term.

The defender was once again overlooked entirely for squad selection for Saturday’s (13 January) 3-0 win at Cardiff City.

Other teams are showing an interest in Cresswell, but it is suggested that none of those offers have matched what Leeds are holding out for.

The Whites cannot afford to miss out on bringing in a fee, though, while at the same time keeping an unsettled player on their books.

Beyond that, it is also not fair on Cresswell that he is having his career stunted when he could be playing regularly elsewhere.

The hope is that, if an agreement is reached with another club, that money will then go straight back into the squad.

A full-back has to be a priority before the window closes on the back of Djed Spence’s loan agreement being terminated.

Either way, this update suggests we can expect some more incoming and outgoing activity at Elland Road over the next fortnight.

In other Leeds United news, a report has shared the reason why Farke fell out with Spence.
