Leeds United target Matt O’Riley staying at Celtic

Leeds United target Matt O’Riley will not be leaving Celtic before the close of the transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish newspaper reported on its online transfer blog on Thursday [31 August, 07:39] that O’Riley will be staying put at Celtic Park.

Fabrizio Romano had reported on Thursday [30 August], via GIVEMESPORT, that there was a “possibility” Leeds would sign the midfielder.

Another target down

Leeds have made it their mission to bring in a new central midfielder before the window closes at 11pm on Friday [1 September].

But with O’Riley now out of the equation, and moves for Ao Tanaka and Lewis O’Brien also coming to nothing, United are running out of options.

It is now looking increasingly likely that Glen Kamara is Leeds’ best bet, with a £5million offer seemingly in place for the Rangers ace [Four Lads Had A Dream].

Denmark U21 international O’Riley looked as though he would be a good option for Leeds, but the move has not happened for one reason or another.

Plenty of deals have fallen through for Leeds this month, but ultimately it will still be a good window on the whole if Kamara arrives.

If that deal does not happen, then serious questions must be asked regarding why so many midfield targets slipped through the net.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are reportedly in the race to sign a £15m-rated defender from a Premier League club.
