Leeds United make deadline day exit decision on Crysencio Summerville as bid submitted

Leeds United have no intention of selling Crysencio Summerville on transfer deadline day amid late interest from Burnley, according to The Sun.

Sam Dymond reported on the newspaper’s online transfer blog on Friday [1 September, 03:11] that Leeds rejected a £20million bid from Burnley on Thursday [31 August].

The Whites are said to have made it clear that the Dutchman is not for sale before the window closes, and they will therefore not entertain any further offers that are made.

Firm stance

Full credit to Leeds. They made it clear that Wilfried Gnonto would not be allowed to leave and, despite the player going on strike amid multiple Everton bids being tabled, they stayed true to their word.

Likewise when it comes to Luis Sinisterra, and the same again with Summerville.

Had each of the three been allowed to depart upon United’s relegation from the Premier League, Daniel Farke would have been left with a rather threadbare squad.

As it is – and assuming this remains the case after the deadline at 11pm today [1 September] – the German has a trio of Premier League quality players to choose from.

Turning down another late £20m offer could not have been an easy decision to make, but it means Farke is now well equipped to achieve his aim of guiding the club back into the top flight.

Still aged just 21, Summerville no doubt has plenty of years of top-flight football ahead of him. Fingers crossed that is with Leeds.
