Leeds United transfer news as Wilfried Gnonto agrees to personal terms to quit Elland Road
Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has agreed to a five-year contract at Everton and hopes to quit Leeds United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday (10 August) that the Italian winger has agreed personal terms with the Toffees and has made it a priority to depart Elland Road this summer.
Gnonto missed the Whites’ win over Shrewsbury in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday (9 August) but was declared fit by manager Daniel Farke, with the winger asking to be left out of the side in an attempt to force a move to, Goodison Park.

Another bump in the road
It’s never simple at Elland Road and this is just the latest example of Leeds being stung in the worst possible way, losing one of their brightest talents and potentially one of the brightest stars in the Championship after only one league game.
Gnonto has wanted this move for a long time, but with the season underway there was growing optimism that he may have remained at Elland Road rather than departing this summer, especially after he started on the opening weekend against Cardiff City.

While it will feel incredibly bleak for the Whites today, there are some positives to take in the fact that the 19-year-old didn’t have a relegation release clause in his contract, therefore the Whites will be able to ensure they get the best possible fee for his services.
On top of that, Daniel Farke has immense depth in the wide areas of his squad, with the likes of Luis Sinisterra and Dan James still amongst his ranks and with a big fee incoming the Whites will be able to add some more quality to their squad.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites remain interested in a former left-back if a replacement can be found this summer
