Leeds United transfer news as update emerges on Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist

Chelsea are prepared to listen to loan offers for Alfie Gilchrist with Leeds United waiting in the wings to sign him, according to Football London.

The news outlet reported on 15 June that the Whites are one among other clubs keen on the 20-year-old this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino gave the Englishman his Blues debut back in December and he has deployed him as a right-back as well as a centre-back.

Alfie Gilchrist will be a decent option for Leeds United

John Terry is understood to be a huge admirer of the 20-year-old and has lauded him for his “unbelievable attitude.”

He will be a good addition to this Leeds side on loan as he is a promising young talent who has impressed with his performances in Chelsea’s youth teams.

His versatility, being able to play as a right-back or centre-back, would provide Leeds with much-needed depth and flexibility in their defensive line.

A loan move to Elland Road would offer Gilchrist valuable first-team experience in a competitive league.

This would be beneficial for his development as a player and could potentially benefit Leeds if he performs well and returns to Chelsea with more experience under his belt.

The style of play under Daniel Farke, which emphasises attacking football, could suit Gilchrist’s skills as a ball-playing defender.

If he adapts well to the Championship, he could become a key player for Leeds during his loan spell.
