Leeds United transfer news as Tyler Adams could replace Moises Caicedo at Brighton

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is one of three names linked to Brighton, as the South Coast side looks to replace Moises Caicedo, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian news outlet shared that Roberto de Zerbi’s side has identified Adams along with Lucas Gourna-Douath of Salzburg and Carlos Baleba of Lille as potential successors to the role left by Caicedo.

Adams is known to have a £20million release clause in his contract, which is now easily affordable to Brighton after they received £115m from the West London club for the Ecuadorian midfielder in a British record transfer fee.

His exit is inevitable

Adams’ exit from Elland Road in the coming weeks is seemingly inevitable at this point. After a move to Chelsea fell through due to the club exploring deals elsewhere, one of which was Caicedo, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Bournemouth had triggered his release clause, and now seems Brighton will do the same.

Caicedo’s move to Chelsea has left the South Coast club with a gap in their squad, and Adams stands out as a clear choice due to the relative ease of the deal. Not having to deal with the club on his price will speed it up, while personal terms are unlikely to be an issue.

As Brighton will participate in the Europa League this season for the first time in the club’s history, they hold considerable pulling power over Leeds who face a battle to get out of the Championship in the coming months.

Adams would become the latest star name to leave Elland Road this summer because of a relegation release clause, after several players have already departed, with plenty of loan clauses and release fees being triggered by clubs across the world who have pounced on Leeds’ relegation.

In other Leeds United news, a different player is reportedly ‘very close’ to leaving the club.
