Leeds United transfer news as Real Betis make enquiry into Junior Firpo deal
Real Betis have made an enquiry into signing Leeds United full-back Junior Firpo this summer, according to Estadio Deportivo.
The report states that “no serious contact” has been made regarding a transfer, but Leeds’ relegation to the Championship has immediately brought the 26-year-old into consideration.
The Spanish side are on the lookout for a new left-back after the departure of Alex Moreno to Aston Villa in the January transfer window left them short-staffed.

Despite the interest from Spain, the Whites defender remains more likely to seal a move to French outfit Marseille.
Real Betis have already been heavily linked with a move for Leeds’ Marc Roca, with the midfielder closing in on a loan move to the La Liga side.

Surplus
Firpo has been one of the most frustrating figures to grace the Elland Road pitch in many a year.
On his day, the full-back has delivered outstanding attacking performances down his flank, but far too often, he was found wanting in defence, with calamitous mistakes a common theme in his play.
The crunch clash against Newcastle towards the end of the season was a plain example of his struggles, where he gave away a needless penalty as well as getting sent off in the latter stages.
A transfer away from West Yorkshire is a given this summer, but his destination is still unclear.
A return to Spain would make the most sense for all parties, and if Leeds can get a decent fee for his services, it will be seen as a job well done.
Hopefully, several clubs will enter the fray for the ex-Barcelona player, and a mini-bidding war could subsequently be sparked.
In other Leeds United news, the decision was due Friday (23 June) but that deadline has already come and gone.
