Leeds United transfer news as Marc Roca twist emerges from Sky Sports

Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is now on the verge of joining Real Betis according to Florian Plettenberg, after teammate Rodrigo flew to Qatar yesterday to complete a move away from the club too.

Plettenberg shares that there were further rounds of negotiations in the last few days as Betis attempted to agree a permanent deal for Roca, before finally settling on the terms of a one-year deal without any option to buy.

The report states a medical is due to take place soon with an agreement finally in place over the transfer. It was reported previously that the deal would include an option to buy [Fabrizio Romano, 10 July], but that no longer appears to be the case following the latest round of talks.

Another exit now sees Leeds desperate for reinforcements

Roca’s exit, albeit an expected one, now leaves Leeds United very light in the midfield, with Tyler Adams and Jamie Shackleton as the only senior midfield options, with Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray seen as the other options despite a lack of first-team football.

Transfer talks have stalled at Leeds following delays with their takeover bids, although the club may still look to press on and get deals done this summer having been linked with moves for Liverpool’s Nat Phillips and former Leeds man Charlie Taylor.

The lack of an option to make this deal permanent suggests a return to Leeds United could be on the cards for Roca, likely depending on whether they achieve promotion this season.

Roca will become the latest Elland Road exit in the last couple of weeks, following Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson and Diego Llorente’s loan deals, while Rodrigo is set to move to Qatar, Rasmus Kristensen may also leave on loan and Willy Gnonto also seems set to leave the club in the near future.

In other Leeds United news, a medical has been scheduled for another Elland Road exit.
