Leeds United transfer news as Marc Roca crushes himself with Real Betis move close

Social media footage has shown Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca training hard ahead of a potential move to Real Betis.

Roca is set to join Real Betis on loan next season and return to the Spanish league after three years away from his home country (Estadio Deportivo, 28 June).

And journalist Pedro J. Gonzalez has tweeted (30 June) that Roca’s move to Real Betis is now close, as the midfielder crushes himself at a centre in Castelldefels, Barcelona.

“Marc Roca continues to crush himself in a training centre in Castelldefels (Barcelona) to reach the best level in the preseason. The Leeds midfielder, whose transfer to Real Betis is very close to being completed, is in a spectacular physical state”

The footage, posted to Roca’s official Instagram, shows him running drills as he gets set for pre-season, which he could begin with Betis.

Frustrating

It seems as if Roca is keen to train hard and fight for his move away, but where was this fight last season?

This kind of intensity, focus and dedication is exactly what would have helped Leeds to stay in the Premier League. At times the Whites were too passive and easy to push over, however, it clearly seems Roca has the opposite attitude to this potential move.

Leeds United

It is a move, however, which is perhaps for the best. The Spanish midfielder clearly struggled with the intensity and physicality of the Premier League and with the Championship arguably being even more physical at times, it is hard to see Roca performing well in the division.

A player of his style is more suited to leagues such as La Liga where there is a greater emphasis on possession-based football and quick passing. It is very likely that fans of the club have seen the 26-year-old in a Leeds shirt for the last time.

In other Leeds United news, complications have emerged in another potential departure.
