Leeds United transfer news as Liverpool line up Archie Gray bid already

Liverpool are lining up a £40million-plus move for Leeds United sensation Archie Gray just three months after he made his first-team debut, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed on 10 November that a move the 17-year-old could cost the Reds at least £40million, as Leeds would be reluctant to let one of their star academy products leave the club.

With his contract set to expire in 2025 and interest from Everton and Crystal Palace as well, Leeds may have no choice but to cash in on their prized gem in the summer transfer window.

Premier League interest can be hard to turn down

Interest from clubs the size of Liverpool could prove difficult to ignore, particularly if the Yorkshire side don’t earn promotion at the first time of asking this season.

Leeds, though, will be desperate to hang on to a player who, at just 17 years old, has stepped effortlessly into their first team and secured his place as a regular player and a key part of Daniel Farke’s plans.

His ability to play both in midfield and slot in at right-back when required has earned him comparisons to Trent Alexander-Arnold recently, and his continued impressive displays in the white shirt will do nothing to harm the high praise he has received.

If no progress is made in terms of a new deal for the youngster, cashing in on a deal with around £40-50million in the summer could provide Leeds with a great foundation to reinvest in their squad.

The hope at the club will be that he can cement his place at Elland Road for the foreseeable future and help bring Leeds back to where they feel they belong – in the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, a permanent move for a £50million-rated star could be on the cards.
