Leeds United transfer news as Karl Darlow to be announced within hours
Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow is set to join Leeds United today, with a deal done between the two clubs, and the Yorkshire side set to announce the deal in the next few hours, according to Seb Ecrivain Foot on Twitter.
The Deputy Editor of the French magazine, with over 150,000 Instagram followers and 50,000 on Facebook, shared the news via his personal Twitter account on 27 July, as a deal finally looks set to reach its conclusion after weeks of speculation surrounding a move.
Darlow emerged as Leeds’ main target for the goalkeeper position weeks ago, although recent competition from Bournemouth left fans unsure, the club were always confident of completing a deal, and now seem to have landed their man.

Finally getting over the line
With news that the deal looks set to be announced later today, both the club and the fans will be pleased to have finally got the deal over the line, with a couple of weeks until the beginning of the season.
Getting this deal done will allow Darlow to join up with his new teammates and acclimatise to his surroundings, as well as his new manager’s style of football, and he puts things in place to be Leeds’ number one goalkeeper for the upcoming Championship season.

It was thought initially that current Leeds number one Illan Meslier would leave the club in the coming weeks, but a lack of interest in the ‘keeper has led to a dilemma at Leeds surrounding who will start for the club.
Having brought in a goalkeeper, it is now assumed that Leeds will turn their attention to other areas of the pitch, as quality strength in depth will be needed throughout the squad following a number of Elland Road exits.
