Leeds United transfer news as Ian Poveda set for another audition v Monaco

Leeds United winger Ian Poveda is set for an opportunity to impress Daniel Farke against Monaco today, with the club set to assess his position, according to Leeds Live.

Poveda has spent the last two years out on loan in the Championship with Blackburn and Blackpool and had become a forgotten man at Elland Road, but it is now claimed he could be given a chance to impress after returning to training with the right attitude and work ethic.

Still only 23, Poveda showed glimpses of promise in his return appearance against Manchester United and could be assessed against Monaco, despite Leeds’ current strength in depth in the wide areas.

New boss, new faces, and a new start

Poveda’s return to the club following their relegation to the Championship has seen him come back to a completely different club. A different owner, different manager, different players. If he wishes to make his mark at Elland Road, this will be his opportunity.

With chances to impress set to be given out in pre-season, Poveda could yet stake a claim to a position in Leeds United’s first team, particularly with several wingers expected to leave the club this summer.

If he turns in a good performance against Monaco, he could set himself up nicely and provide Farke with a decision to make ahead of the new season.

His experience in the Championship over the last two years, although not particularly impressive having managed just three goals and three assists in 34 appearances, could still prove valuable in a notoriously difficult league to navigate.

The report sharing that he has returned to Leeds United training with the correct attitude, work ethic and commitment is a display that he wants to stay and impress, rather than take the easy option with a move away. That should be respected.
