Leeds United transfer news as Helder Costa set to leave this summer

Leeds United winger Helder Costa is set to leave the club this summer despite travelling to Norway, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Graham Smyth shared that Costa was ruled out of the Manchester United game despite training earlier today due to his late return to pre-season.

The winger is still expected to depart Elland Road this summer but will be involved in pre-season preparations until his future is officially decided.

Costa needs to leave

Many fans of Leeds United could be forgiven for forgetting Costa remained on the books at the club, having not featured even once in almost two years, spending the last couple of seasons out on loan in Spain with Valencia and Saudi Arabia with Al Ittihad.

A permanent move back to Saudi Arabia would make a lot of sense for the winger, having spent a season there already, and going along with the mass exodus of European players moving to the Gulf states – including fellow Leeds star Rodrigo who is set to move to Qatar.

While Costa hasn’t attracted any interest thus far, it is sure to come eventually for a player with the qualities he has shown in his career.

It is somewhat of a surprise that he seemingly won’t be given a look-in at all at Leeds, unless that is the player’s desire, as other previously forgotten men such as Ian Poveda are set to be given a chance to impress the new manager in pre-season.

In other Leeds United news, one player’s move away from the club is set to be completed today.
