Leeds United transfer news as Everton make new Wilfried Gnonto decision
Everton have decided to cool their interest in Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto, according to FootballTransfers.
The online source reported [29 July] that, while the 20-year-old is open to the switch to Goodison Park, the Toffees are set to explore alternative targets instead.
Sean Dyche’s side were expected to up their interest in Gnonto this summer after the sale of Amadou Onana, according to iNews, but that no longer looks to be the plan this summer.
Leeds United handed Wilfried Gnonto transfer boost
Moments after the full-time whistle blew at Wembley Stadium, and Leeds had been pipped to Premier League promotion by Southampton, thoughts will have turned to which players could be leaving Elland Road this summer.
With Archie Gray and Glen Kamara already finding new homes, it could only be a matter of time until another one of last season’s stars confirms their departure.
Despite the incredible form shown by Dan James throughout the campaign, Gnonto finished the season on a stronger note, cementing his spot at right wing by notching eight goals and two assists.
The youngster got off to a shaky start at the beginning of the season, handing in a transfer request amid interest from the Toffees, and those same rumours look to have resurfaced this summer too.
However, the Whites may have been able to shake one Premier League suitor, with another nine clubs said to be interested in the Italian’s signature [Caught Offside].

Given Leeds’ current situation in the Championship, it is no surprise to see many of Daniel Farke’s stars being linked with moves away, with Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter also at risk.
While it is entirely plausible that Leeds lose both Summerville and Gnonto [TEAMtalk], the manager will be hoping to keep at least one of his attackers in order to help secure promotion to the Premier League next season.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in talks with West Ham United over an “expensive” Crysencio Summerville package.
