Leeds United transfer news as bullet in the chamber for Marc Roca sale

Real Betis are waiting with a “bullet in the chamber” to postpone their purchase of Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca until 2025, according to Marca.

The Spanish news outlet (2 January) shared that Roca’s loan could be extended for the 2024/25 season should the Whites fail to win promotion to the Premier League this season.

The La Liga outfit are hoping to postpone their purchase of the midfielder until then when he will have just a year left on his contract [Transfermarkt], but know that should Leeds United win promotion, they will have to dig deep in their pockets to try and seal his permanent transfer.

Roca is still contracted to Leeds United until 2026 which presents a problem for Betis to try and sign him for a reasonable price with the former Bayern Munich man impressing on loan so far this season.

Want cash now

It is becoming increasingly obvious from his loan spell that Roca isn’t a bad player but rather isn’t particularly well equipped to flourish in the Premier League as he continues to go from strength to strength not only in La Liga but also in European football.

The former Bayern Munich has shown that when a player moves onto a much more comfortable and settled environment, he can flourish and that’s what the Leeds United loanee has proven under Manuel Pellgerini’s trust and management.

Roca has been brilliant in his time in Spain so far this season, registering four goals and two assists in all competitions which has certainly heightened Betis’ desperation to extend his stay whether temporary or loan.

However, they face an anxious wait for Leeds to secure their Premier League destiny and that could hinge on any potential deal but given the player’s career seems finished at Elland Road, the Whites will certainly want cash as soon as possible to get him off their books.

Betis simply don’t have the money to do a permanent deal right now but the desire is certainly there from both parties to negotiate an amicable departure for Roca, that’s an encouraging matter for the player especially.

In other Leeds United news, another Elland Road loanee has been savaged by an international media news outlet for his recent display.
