Leeds United transfer: Emmanuel Latte Lath update after new multi-million reveal

Leeds United would have to pay more than the rumoured £15million to sign Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough, according to Joe Donnohue.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist shared on 9 January that Boro sources had dismissed reports that the club would accept that fee (Give Me Sport).

The striker has scored ten goals in 26 Championship appearances this season which has led to interest from the Whites and Premier League clubs Ipswich and Leicester.

Leeds United could miss out on Latte Lath

The reported fee would have been a bargain for Daniel Farke’s side with the signing of Latte Lath almost certainly guaranteeing promotion to the Premier League.

However, with the Ivorian forward likely costing more than that a deal would be hard for the Whites to achieve, especially with interest in his services from the top-flight.

Farke’s side need to do something in January due to the razor-close promotion battle in the second tier, with Burnley and Sheffield United just a point behind them.

Joel Piroe has equalled Latte Lath’s ten strikes in the division this season but his overall play is significantly worse and he does not possess the pace of the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford are not up to standard at this moment with two and zero league goals respectively.

Farke needs a reliable goalscoring number nine to ensure that his side does not miss out on promotion this campaign but they are likely to miss out on Latte Lath if the fee is higher than £15m.
