Leeds United transfer development as Jaka Bijol advantage revealed

Fiorentina are keeping an eye on Jaka Bijol, with Fabio Paratici keen on the Leeds United centre-back in the winter transfer window.

Bijol has been linked with a surprise move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with the Italian club keen on bolstering their backline as they look to avoid relegation.

The Tottenham chief is set to join La Viola after Deadline Day, but is already working on making moves for the Serie A outfit.

Daniel Farke has been without the injured Bijol in recent weeks, but the defender’s situation will be one to keep an eye on.

Fiorentina have Radu Dragusin and Leeds United centre-back Jaka Bijol on transfer shortlist

Fiorentina are targeting Bijol and Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The news outlet reports in its print edition on 26 January that the Slovenia international has the advantage of playing in Serie A before his move to Elland Road.

It’s been claimed that the Spurs centre-back’s agent isn’t keen about the idea of moving to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and it will be interesting to see what that means for their interest in the West Yorkshire outfit’s defender.

Bijol has been a key player for Farke after a slow start to his career with the Whites, playing the entire 90 minutes in his last five Premier League appearances before picking up a knock.

The Peacocks signed the 26-year-old from Udinese for around £15million in the summer, and the investment has arguably paid off.

As things stand, Farke’s team are six points ahead of the relegation zone, having lost just one of their last 10 Premier League matches.

Jack Harrison has signed for Fiorentina, with Harry Gray also moving to Rotherham United on loan until the end of the season.

As of yet, Leeds have only added Facundo Buonanotte to their squad in January, and it remains to be seen whether there will be more incomings and outgoings in LS11 before the 2 February deadline.

Speaking in December, Farke said, “I don’t have any motivation to give one member of our group away in January. It’s the market, and if we can improve by doing a change, we should be open to this, but all players with us are strongly in my plans.”

The German manager doesn’t seem keen on losing squad depth at the West Yorkshire outfit midway through the season, and it would be surprising to see him sanction the sale of Bijol at this point.
