Leeds United told Jonathan Rowe deal still doable as new transfer claim made

MOT Leeds News Speaking to Don Goodman

MOT Leeds News is delighted to have noted Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman joining its team of Leeds experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the likes of Bradford, West Brom, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports, where he has become a bonafide EFL expert. Don will bring you expert insight on all the goings on at Leeds.

Don Goodman says it cannot be ruled out that Leeds United will move to sign Jonathan Rowe down the line after missing out on the forward in the summer.

Leeds are reported to have bid £7million for Rowe in August [The Sun], but they refused to meet Norwich City's demands and the attacker instead ended up at Marseille for double that fee.

Rowe is catching the eye in Ligue 1, leading to some possible regret behind the scenes at Elland Road, but Goodman has suggested the Englishman could soon return to these shores - potentially at Leeds.

"I applaud Leeds for sticking to their guns in the summer and I have no doubt Rowe will come back to the UK in the not-too-distant future," he told MOT Leeds News.

"If that happens, Leeds may be there for him again, and this time possibly as a Premier League club."

Jonathan Rowe would have been great Leeds United signing

Losing Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter meant the pressure was on the Leeds board to bring in replacements as the summer transfer window neared its conclusion.

Supporters were left frustrated when the window closed, with many feeling the club should have spent big on a statement signing.

While Rowe has impressed at his new club, Leeds are hardly struggling in the forward department as Largie Ramazani and Wilfried Gnonto have starred out wide, while Daniel James and Manor Solomon are now back from injury.

As Goodman implies, a move for Rowe could still be on the cards for Leeds, albeit 12 months later than initially planned.
