Leeds United told condition for Beto sale as Angus Kinnear stance shared

Leeds United can sign Beto from Everton during the summer transfer window on one condition.

The Whites are in for a big summer, as they prepare for life back in the Premier League after earning promotion as the Championship winners.

Leeds are aware of the increasing competition in the top flight, and that is why Paraag Marathe is prepared to give Daniel Farke a £150million transfer kitty for new signings.

Farke’s side are willing to spend heavily to strengthen their spine ahead of next season, with a goalscoring striker high on their wishlist.

Therefore, Beto has emerged as a genuine option for the Peacocks ahead of the summer.

Angus Kinnear to block Beto transfer to Leeds United

However, Leeds United face an uphill task to acquire Beto’s services, as the Everton hierarchy, including Angus Kinnear, do not want to strengthen a ‘positional rival’ next season.

Therefore, a deal to sign the Guinea-Bissau international would be difficult for the West Yorkshire outfit to pull off, according to YEP.

The Yorkshire-based newspaper reported via their website on Sunday (11 May) that this is particularly because Dominic Calvert-Lewin is already due to leave Everton when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, an insider has suggested that a move could become possible later in the window if Calvert-Lewin commits his future to Everton.

The Toffees would also have to sign another centre-forward to allow Beto to move to Elland Road.

Even then, the 27-year-old would ‘not come cheap’ as he has two more years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park after joining the Merseyside-based club for £20m in 2023.

Farke to turn attention elsewhere

There is no reason for Leeds United to abandon their interest in Beto yet, as Everton could open the door for an exit at some point.

However, with a big season coming up, the Whites cannot afford to waste any time in the summer transfer window.

That is why it would not be a surprise if Farke is already looking at other options to bolster his options in attack.
