Leeds United lead chase to wrap up deal for Rangers ace Glen Kamara over the next few days

Glen Kamara is likely to finally seal his Rangers exit in the coming days with Leeds United in pole position to sign the midfielder, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported in its print edition on Saturday (26 August, page 54) that the Finland international is closing on his Ibrox exit.

Graham Smyth had described Leeds’ pursuit of Kamara as “weird” on Friday (25 August) and that the move had gone a “bit quiet”.

The Scottish Sun had previously reported (22 August) that Leeds had bid £5.5million for the 27-year-old who has not featured for Rangers in the early stages of the campaign.

And it looks as though a move will finally occur after a protracted pursuit this window.

A solid signing

It is no secret that Leeds still need a few more bodies in the door.

Daniel Farke has done some very good business thus far, with Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Sam Byram, Karl Darlow and Joel Piroe all through the door at Elland Road.

Genk winger Joseph Paintsil could also arrive, so Leeds’ squad is all of a sudden looking a little healthier and a little more capable of meeting the demands of a long and arduous Championship season.

The addition of Kamara would be an extremely solid one, particularly given the Whites have lost Tyler Adams to Bournemouth.

Kamara would bring energy and creativity to the centre of midfield for Farke, and would boost numbers in a position where Leeds are looking a little light.

It has been a transfer that has been long in the making, so let’s hope things are finally coming to a close and we see Kamara finally in a Leeds shirt.

In other Leeds United news, Genk have returned with a counter-offer to the Whites’ first bid for Paintsil.
