Leeds United to table bid as Elvedi transfer now priority
Leeds United are keen on bringing in new defenders to give themselves the best chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi is on Leeds’ radar, with that area understood to be a priority.
Despite a 100-point season in the Championship, Daniel Farke is keen on strengthening the Leeds first team.

Elvedi bid expected in coming days
According to Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, the Whites are keen on a centre-back and a full-back this summer.
Along with Elvedi, Tottenham defender Ben Davies could also be a Leeds target for the coming weeks.
However, interest in the Switzerland international is understood to be more advanced than Davies.

It’s understood that the Elland Road outfit could table a bid for Elvedi in the next few days as they want to secure their first signing of the summer.
Elvedi is capable of playing as a right-back as well, but is predominantly a centre-back.
Speaking on Last Word on Spurs. Jacobs said: “I’d keep an eye also on Leeds United too.
“They definitely were interested in Davies when they were still in the Championship. Now we have to wait and see whether they move because targets can change due to promotion. Nico Elvedi is another name I hear for Leeds who can play left-back or left centre-back.
“That’s one I expect them to bid for in the coming days. So the Ben Davies situation is open, but it is fair to say that Tottenham are open to offers. And if you’re open to offers, then extending the contract only helps you protect the value and bring in the most money possible.”
Leeds United must explore Elvedi’s transfer this summer
Elvedi would be an excellent signing for Leeds United, bolstering their defence with his experience and versatility.
The 29-year-old Swiss centre-back has over 250 Bundesliga appearances, showcasing his reliability and adaptability in a top league.
His composure on the ball, strong aerial presence, and ability to play in a back three or four align perfectly with Daniel Farke’s possession-based, high-line system.
Elvedi’s 56 caps for Switzerland, including starts at Euro 2024, underline his quality and big-game mentality, making him a strong partner for Pascal Struijk or Max Wober.
With Leeds’ need for defensive stability to secure Premier League survival, Elvedi’s leadership and consistency are vital.
His contract, expiring in 2027, could command a £10-15million fee, a reasonable investment for a proven defender.
Leeds must act quickly, as interest from other sides could complicate negotiations, but Elvedi’s signing would elevate their backline significantly.
