Leeds United to sign Sebastiaan Bornauw as four-year contract ready, medical booked

Leeds United are set to complete their third signing of the summer transfer window.

Following the arrival of Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha, Leeds‘ summer transfer business is only getting started, with plenty more work needed ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Bolstering their attacking lineup will be a priority, though Daniel Farke will be intent on adding quality wherever possible should the chance arise.

Thankfully, according to the latest reports, that chance has now emerged, with a medical booked in for the Whites’ third summer addition at Elland Road.

Sebastiaan Bornauw set for Elland Road switch

With the PSR deadline upon us, clubs around Europe are racing to beat the clock to offload players to comply with the financial restrictions.

As a result, as per Graham Smyth, Leeds have agreed a £5.1million deal to sign Wolfsburg defender Sebastiaan Bornauw, who is set to sign a four-year deal with the Whites.

A medical has been booked in, with the deal expected to go through immediately.

Bournauw’s addition is another statement signing, and could back up the claims that Farke is looking to switch to a back five formation next season.

Farke needs attacking signings

Having a strong defensive shape is often key to survival, though without a regular goal threat, that will mean very little.

Signing a striker has to be the next priority for the Whites, with the addition of at least one winger also essential after Manor Solomon’s return to Tottenham.

Nikola Krstovic has been linked to satisfy the former, while a permanent deal for Solomon could still be on the cards, depending on whether Thomas Frank sees him in his plans for the new campaign.

With that said, the season is still just shy of two months away, with plenty of time for the 49ers to assemble a squad capable of competing in the top flight.
