Leeds United ‘to seal no-brainer Sean Longstaff transfer’ after what’s happened

Newcastle United midfielder could potentially be part of the seemingly necessary changes at Leeds United in the upcoming transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s team will play Premier League football next season, and they’ll evidently need a squad capable of surviving relegation.

The Elland Road faithful will expect 49ers Enterprises to invest heavily in quality players next summer to give the German manager the tools to be successful.

Longstaff has been linked with a move to West Yorkshire, and players like him are arguably needed at the Peacocks after winning promotion.

Longstaff transfer makes sense for Leeds United after Premier League promotion

It would make sense for the Whites to sign someone like Longstaff after winning Premier League promotion, David Prutton says.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the 27-year-old midfielder would probably be a no-brainer addition at Elland Road due to his experience in the top flight with Newcastle.

Prutton feels the Englishman can contribute at the West Yorkshire outfit, but they must sign him for the right price without affecting their wage structure.

Speaking to Football League World (1 May), the ex-Nottingham Forest ace said: “Longstaff would be a solid addition for Leeds given the experience he has got under his belt at the top level.

“The thing you instantly like about players like that is his work ethic, his ability to be part of a team and the understanding of the pressure that comes with playing for a big football team, because he knows exactly what Newcastle is. He will have no qualms or worries about replicating that for Leeds.

“The price has to be right, the wages have to be right, they can’t blow part of a structure that has been carefully curated. But there’s no point going up to the Premier League and not giving yourself the tools to do that, and Sean could be a decent addition.”

49ers must sign players with Premier League experience at Elland Road

Tomas Soucek is on the radar at Elland Road, which makes sense considering his contribution at West Ham United over the years.

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s contract at Everton expires at the end of the season, and the Mali international is someone the Whites should make a move for due to his experience in the top flight.

There are several players still at the West Yorkshire outfit who were part of the team that were relegated around two years back.

Leeds can count on most of their players to replicate their success in the Premier League, but their squad depth is evidently lacking.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been the centre-back pairing at Elland Road for most of the season, but they lack other options for the position.

Max Wober has hardly been seen in action in the current campaign, with Farke opting to use Ampadu’s versatility in recent matches.

In the middle of the park, Joe Rothwell is set to leave the West Yorkshire outfit once his loan from Bournemouth expires, and the German manager will probably need a replacement for the Englishman.

Ampadu and Ilia Gruev’s fitness issues forced the Peacocks to sign Josuha Guilavogui in October, but they can’t go into the top flight with similar issues.
