‘Leeds United to seal Newcastle steal’ with Sean Longstaff transfer

Leeds United could potentially complete a bargain transfer for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff this summer.

The 27-year-old has been part of the Magpies’ first team for several years now, but his game time has dwindled in recent months.

Longstaff has emerged as a target at Elland Road, but they are yet to reach an agreement over a fee for the midfielder’s departure.

If the West Yorkshire outfit are able to give Daniel Farke the Newcastle ace ahead of next season for a certain price, they would be pulling off a seemingly remarkable transfer.

Longstaff would be a steal at Leeds United with £12m transfer

Longstaff’s move to Leeds for £12million would be a steal in the ongoing window, Adam Pope has been told.

Newcastle supporters have told the BBC Sport journalist that the Whites could potentially get a cut-price move for the 27-year-old at Elland Road.

The Englishman has just one year left on his contract at St James’ Park, and it would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to get a bargain deal.

Speaking on Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet (14 July), Pope said: “The Newcastle fans I’ve been speaking to, they said at £12m, he would be a steal.”

Farke must push for Longstaff transfer at Leeds

Longstaff would be an excellent addition at Leeds, considering his vast experience in the Premier League over the years.

The Whites could undoubtedly do with someone like the 27-year-old in their squad who has been playing top-flight football regularly.

While the English midfielder shouldn’t ideally cost much due to his contractual situation, the West Yorkshire outfit risk losing him to another team.

Leeds should push for Longstaff’s transfer in the coming days, as it wouldn’t be surprising to see another Premier League outfit pursuing his signature.

Joe Willock has also been linked to Elland Road, but the Whites should prioritise the 27-year-old’s arrival before focusing on other targets.

Farke evidently needs more depth in his engine room ahead of next season after losing Joe Rothwell, but only time will tell whether they complete Longstaff’s signing.
