Leeds United may prove difficult negotiators regarding Joe Gelhardt's future, with Hull City still keen on a permanent move.

The Tigers are now a Premier League side and are said to be aiming for 12 to 15 new signings this summer, and the return of their loan star would be one of them.

Gelhardt grabbed 20 goals and assists combined for Sergej Jakirovic last campaign, helping Hull get back to the big time with a play-off final win over Middlesbrough.

However, the Englishman is still a Whites player and was always regarded as someone with high potential at Elland Road.

Leeds have a decision to make on Gelhardt, and it can go one of either two ways this summer, as they won't just simply keep him in LS11.

Leeds may offer Joe Gelhardt new deal if requirements are not met

Gelhardt is entering the final 12 months of his deal with the Whites, which makes this summer even more important for him and the club.

Daniel Farke has spoken about the 24-year-old's talent in the past, and last season may have been the campaign that has changed his fortunes at Leeds moving forward.

But in the same breath, he may now feel he's deserving of a guaranteed starting spot for a Premier League side in Hull, which he still may not get at Elland Road.

This summer poses the best opportunity that Leeds have at getting a big sum of money for Gelhardt, who has multiplied his stock over the past 12 months.

With that being said, if Hull or any other interested teams don't offer enough for the attacking midfielder, Farke and Co. may see more use in handing him a new deal.

Whether he would accept it is another question.

Brenden Aaronson call could alter Gelhardt's future

Leeds want to sign a left-footed attacking midfielder who can also play off the right.

This may have an effect on Brenden Aaronson's future, a player who is a very controversial subject at Elland Road.

If the American were to leave, space would open up for Gelhardt to have a big role to play, even if the Whites sign another player for the number 10 position.

There are a few dominoes that could fall in LS11 this summer, and what happens with Gelhardt is far from resolved or straightforward.
