Leeds United to outbid Marseille for Jonathan Rowe transfer from Norwich in official move
Leeds United are set to outbid Marseille with a new formal bid for Jonathan Rowe, according to TEAMtalk.
The outlet reported via their website on 12 August that the offer will be closer to Norwich’s valuation of the young attacker and there is now optimism at Elland Road that they can win the race to signing him as they “officially” throw their hat in.
The Canaries want £15million for the 21-year-old and he is said to have expressed willingness to move to France.
But the Whites have also been in contact with this representatives and are attempting to sell him on the project under Daniel Farke and the potential for Premier League football next season, as he sees himself at a higher level than the Championship.
Daniel Farke to replace Crysencio Summerville Leeds United
Leeds United have brought in some important signings this summer with the likes of Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell already secured.
But they have arguably lost a lot more in star performers Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Glen Kamara, on top of other squad options.
Farke believes he needs three more in to challenge for promotion [The Athletic, 5 August] and it appears Rowe could be one of those.
The 3-3 draw with promoted Portsmouth at the weekend has only strengthened the need to strengthen adequately ahead of the deadline and it looks like that result may have spurred the club to take decisive action with Rowe.
He missed the Norwich defeat to Oxford amid speculation over his future and after 12 league goals in his breakout campaign last term he could be a valuable addition for Farke.

It is clearly going to be easier said than done when he might prefer the Ligue 1 option, and he won’t be cheap.
But with £15m reportedly on the table at Crystal Palace for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi [Alan Nixon, 11 August] it looks like the cash is available to secure the Rowe deal.
In other Leeds United news, another senior player could still make a sudden exit before the deadline despite committing to the season.
