Leeds United to make mad dash for transfers as club chairman speaks out
Leeds United will be active in the closing stages of the transfer window, according to Darragh MacAnthony.
The chairman of Peterborough United predicted on talkSPORT (6 August, 10:42) that Leeds will be involved in transfers right up until the 30 August deadline.
The Whites sold Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United last week and face the start of the 2024/25 Championship season without a replacement.
However, McAnthony believes Daniel Farke’s men will bring in new faces over the coming weeks.
“I think Leeds will have a right go near the end of the window,” he said. “They did the same last year.
“I just have this sense that the last two days of the window, it’ll go cuckoo as clubs clear the decks.”
Leeds United to go big in the final month of transfer window
Leeds supporters have had a tough time this summer. They face another season in the Championship and have lost two of their prized assets in Summerville and Archie Gray, the latter moving to Tottenham.
The Whites are still in an excellent position heading into the season opener against Portsmouth on Saturday (10 August). The squad is still one of, if not the, best in the division.
The emergence of Mateo Joseph, meanwhile, will give supporters some hope for the campaign.
But the Championship is arguably the most unpredictable league in football and nothing is guaranteed. If Farke wants to secure a return to the Premier League this season then the funds from their big-money sales need to be invested into the side.

The transfer mill is in full flow, with Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe the latest target to emerge following the exit of Summerville [Alex Crook, 5 August].
Farke has conceded that his side needs three more signings before the deadline (The Athletic) to challenge for the Championship title this term.
Rowe managed 12 league goals last time out and his contribution will go towards denting the 20 league goals by Summerville that led to him being named Championship Player of the Year last season.
Leeds are currently the favourites to win the title this season (Opta Analyst) before a ball has been kicked, and a few more quality additions will further strengthen their chances on what promises to be an exciting campaign.
In other Leeds United news, the club could be planning a triple signing before the transfer window closes.
