Leeds United to keep close eye on Mohamed Amoura in World Cup as final transfer call close
Leeds United will most likely be keeping an eye on several targets at this year's World Cup, as Mohamed Amoura could be one of them.
The Whites have an interesting summer ahead, with Paraag Marathe admitting that it will be planned with strategic intent.
The 49ers understand that they cannot spend willy-nilly this summer, as it may take another two seasons until they can operate how they wish in the market, due to financial issues.
Amoura was linked with Leeds at the end of the winter window, but it was reported that they would assess a possible move this summer.
The VfL Wolfsburg star will be at the World Cup with Algeria this summer, and will put in performances on the highest stage of them all.
Leeds will be keen to see how Amoura performs when the lights shine brightest, as a summer transfer decision, whether to pursue a deal at all or not, is expected.
Leeds may act on Mohamed Amoura interest after World Cup
Leeds were unable to wrap up a deal for Amoura in the winter window, but their interest was genuine.
It was then suggested that the Whites would turn their attention to the Algerian international once more this summer, as any approach will most likely come once he returns to Germany after the World Cup.
The versatile striker is said to be valued at around £26.1million by Wolfsburg, who could be open to his sale.
If Amoura does have a good World Cup campaign, then Leeds will , of course, be more attracted by the prospect of signing him
However, that could drive his price tag up even further.
Who does Amoura play against at the World Cup
There is a good chance that Amoura plays just the three games at this year's World Cup, but he is seen as an important starting player for Algeria.
His first test will come against none other than the defending champions in Lionel Messi's Argentina, but his country can take confidence in knowing Saudi Arabia beat them in the first game of the 2022 World Cup.
He also plays Jordan and Austria, as the latter will most likely be their direct rival to get out of the group, with Argentina expected to go three for three.
Either way, it will be an interesting watch for Leeds' transfer chiefs, who will most likely keep a close eye on Amoura.
