Leeds United to consider new Oliver Skipp transfer approach amid Tottenham exit update

Leeds United will take time to consider whether they should return to Tottenham to try and sign Oliver Skipp, according to Leeds Live.

The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (4 July) that the Whites tried to include the midfielder alongside Joe Rodon as part of the deal which saw Archie Gray head to North London in the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke is known to be a big fan of the 23-year-old who he worked with during his time at Norwich City where the pair won the Championship together at Carrow Road and he would be keen to bring him to Yorkshire.

The Whites were eager to get Gray’s exit over the line quickly to help navigate profit and sustainability concerns, but now they have the time to decide whether or not to make another approach for Skipp.

Will Oliver Skipp exit Tottenham amid Leeds United summer transfer speculation?

A summer move for Skipp seems to tick a number of boxes for Leeds United and Farke, in particular, this summer, especially after they were dealt the blow of losing Gray so early on in their pre-season preparations.

Although the teenager didn’t play regularly in midfield last season, that was his preferred position. With him gone and speculation surrounding both Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara, further midfield additions could well be required.

Skipp knows the Championship and more importantly, knows what it takes to get out of the division. He may only be 23, but his experience throughout his brief career could be an excellent addition to the Elland Road changing room.

Whether or not he would be willing to make the drop into the Championship this summer remains to be seen, especially as Premier League clubs will more than likely enter the race for his signature if Spurs make him available for transfer.

But the attraction of working for Farke again may be too good to turn down. Ultimately, the ball is now in the Whites’ court once again and they have to decide whether or not they want to return to negotiations.
