Leeds United find ideal Illan Meslier replacement, January move could be on
Leeds United are targeting a deal to sign River Plate goalkeeper Conan Ledesma as they seek a replacement for Illan Meslier, according to Fichajes.
Meslier has become somewhat of a pantomime villain at Elland Road with his performances so far this season, and the Spanish outlet has reported [6 January] that Ledesma is considered an “ideal” replacement.
The 31-year-old Argentine has struggled for game time at River Plate and it is claimed that a move to England would represent a chance to “regain the prominence” he has lost.
Leeds United must sign a goalkeeper this January
Very few will have anticipated this being the priority of the window but recent performances from the Frenchman have begun to scream out the need for a replacement, with a series of comical errors against Hull City directly costing the side two crucial points.
It wasn’t the first time Meslier has cost his side, either, having also dropped howlers against Preston and Sunderland earlier on in the season, and it begs the question as to where the Whites would be with a more competent goalkeeper between the sticks.

While any deal appears not to be imminent, Leeds certainly need to ramp up their efforts to sign a shot-stopper if they want to find some level of consistency within their results this month.
As it stands, the Whites occupy the summit of the Championship, but after the dropped points at the MKM Stadium, just three points separate them from fourth.
