Leeds United table offer to Birmingham City attacker Amari Miller
Leeds United are in pole position to sign Birmingham City attacker Amari Miller after offering a contract to the teenager, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The newspaper reports on their website that Tottenham and Southampton are monitoring the 18-year-old’s situation at St Andrew’s but Leeds are leading the race for his signature at this stage.
It is understood Miller is “considered to be the brightest prospect” Birmingham have after he broke into their first team in the Championship this season.
Bright young player
Miller made five senior appearances for Blues in the latter stages of this season, playing as a substitute in wins over Stoke, Nottingham Forest and Derby before being handed starts against Cardiff and Blackburn, which both ended in defeat.
It’s fairly clear that Birmingham manager and ex-Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer is a massive fan of Miller’s talents.
As quoted on Birmingham’s Twitter account in April, Bowyer said Miller “looks good when he comes on for five-ten minutes when everyone is tired”, before adding the 18-year-old “has potential”.
We’re willing to trust Bowyer on this but from the fact Miller has already played a handful of times in the Championship, it would be fair to assume that he’s someone who has a great future in his sights.
In those five appearances in the second-tier, Miller played mainly as a right-winger but he also played on the left.
According to stats by WhoScored, he completed 84 per cent of his passes in the Championship this term while also averaging 0.4 key passes and 0.4 shots per game.
It’s not a bad start for the young winger, who we feel could be a good addition to the growing number of prodigies at Thorp Arch.
In other Leeds United news, this Leeds player transfer has fallen through and Victor Orta is in talks over a last-ditch agreement.
