Leeds United ready Jonathan Rowe approach ahead of brand new transfer
Leeds United have held talks with Norwich City over a deal for Jonathan Rowe, according to John Percy.
The Telegraph reporter shared via the newspaper’s website that Leeds are readying an opening offer of £7million.
England Under-21s international Rowe has been identified as a possible replacement for Crysencio Summerville, who completed a move to West Ham United last week.
Leeds United identify Crysencio Summerville replacement
Filling the void left by Summerville is not going to be easy, and nor do supporters expect a player of the same quality to be signed.
However, fans expect Leeds to spend big on a ‘name’, so to speak, to come in and become a regular in attack for the Whites.
Rowe isn’t exactly a household name, but he is certainly a talented attacker who played 32 times in the Championship last season.
The 21-year-old also has Premier League experience, while also representing England U21s, so he ticks plenty of boxes.
Rowe impressed last time out with 12 goals and two assists in 32 Championship outings, showing exactly what he is capable of.
On that basis, you have to wonder if £7m will even slightly tempt Norwich into selling one of their prized assets.
Even more so when the Canaries know Leeds have just banked more than three times that amount for Summerville.
Either way, another attacker is needed and a deal will ideally be in place before the season begins next weekend.
If Rowe is the man Leeds truly want to replace Summerville, it may well be that they need to just cut to the chase and offer an eight-figure sum now.
In other Leeds United news, another of the Whites’ targets has now been likened to David Beckham after something he did.
