Leeds United table bid for Kristoffer Klaesson after Victor Orta visit

Leeds United have tabled a bid for 20-year-old Norwegian goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson, according to journalist Stian Wahl.

The Norwegian journalist, followed by reputable reporters like Fabrizio Romano and Graham Smyth on Twitter, made the claim on Friday morning about the Valerenga shot-stopper..

He wrote: “There has now been official contact between Vålerenga and Leeds following [Victor] Orta’s visit to Oslo. Leeds has submitted a bid for Klaesson that should be close to what VIF wants. The clubs negotiate!”

Moving fast

This is a deal that seems to have progressed at a fair rate of knots.

Yesterday, it was reported that Victor Orta had jetted out to Norway in order to hold talks with the 20-year-old and his agent, and now a bid looks to have been submitted.

There have been various other names mentioned with regards to being Leeds United’s new number two after Kiko Casilla departed West Yorkshire last week, with Newcastle United shot-stopper Freddie Woodman among those mentioned.

It’s an interesting one with regards to the profile of player – like Illan Meslier, Klaesson is a very young goalkeeper, but he is already vastly experienced with a number of games under his belt for someone of his youthful years.

He’s already played over 50 games for Valerenga, but it still seems peculiar that the Whites are pursuing such a young goalkeeper with the 21-year-old Meslier already in the ranks.

However, Orta and his scouting team have obviously done their homework and they like what they see.

Most Whites supporters won’t know much, if anything, about the potential new recruit, but if we’ve learnt anything over the last few years, it’s that Orta is usually on the money with transfers.

In other Leeds United news, this Whites-linked ‘Genius’ has been told he can leave his club this summer, Victor Orta has held agent talks.
