Leeds United table £3m bid to sign Lewis O’Brien, Huddersfield reject it
Leeds United have seen a £3million bid for midfielder Lewis O’Brien rejected by Huddersfield, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported via their print edition [August 8, page 138] that Leeds remain “hopeful” of striking a deal for the “highly-rated” 22-year-old, who Marcelo Bielsa is a big admirer of and watched play for Huddersfield in their Carabao Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday last week.
It is understood that after failing with their opening £3million bid for O’Brien, Leeds are “set to return with an improved offer”, which could tempt their Yorkshire rivals into a sale.

One to get done?
Leeds have had a slow summer when you look at the players they have added to their first-team squad.
Jack Harrison’s loan deal was made into a permanent one but that’s hardly surprising and was always on the cards.
Kristoffer Klaesson has come in from Valerenga to replace Kiko Casilla as Bielsa’s second-choice goalkeeper while the marquee signing has so far been left-back Junior Firpo, who’s signed from Barcelona.

Leeds could do with a couple more additions to pad out the squad and give Bielsa some extra options and the central midfield area is one that needs strengthening.
O’Brien seems to be the top target for that role after Leeds failed to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea but it’s rather an underwhelming one in the eyes of some supporters.
However, if Bielsa likes O’Brien then who are we to judge? If he wants the Huddersfield ace and thinks he’s good enough for his first-team squad in the Premier League then we should agree with that.
If Leeds sign just one more player before the transfer window closes, O’Brien seems to be the most likely one to come in.
