Leeds United suggested to make Kulusevski-esque swoop for Barcelona ace Dest – Sky pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Leeds United could find themselves top new players if they look into the market of fringe players at big European clubs, according to Paul Robinson.
Tottenham were notably better in the second half of the 2021/22 season, qualifying for the Champions League after signing Roman Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus in the January transfer window.
Both have been major hits in North London and with Leeds reportedly interested in Barcelona and USA right-back Serginho Dest [TeamTalk], Robinson feels the Whites could be on the same track by pursuing him.

“I don’t know that much about him, I’ve not seen much of him. But the US link is there,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“You hope players are being signed because of their quality and not because of the link to the manager’s nationality.
“If he’s at Barcelona, there’s a reason he’s there and if Leeds can pick off big clubs’ pickings in a similar way as Spurs have done with [Roman] Bentancur and [Dejan] Kulusevski.
“If they can find players like that, it’s not a bad market to shop in.”

TeamTalk reported on 25 May that Leeds are keen on signing Dest, who’s a 21-year-old right-back who’s been on the fringe of the Barcelona senior side in 2021/22.
Leeds are part-owned by American NFL franchise the San Francisco 49ers, have an American head coach in Jesse Marsch and have already signed USA midfielder Brenden Aaronson since the transfer window closed.
A deal for Dest, however, seems to be unlikely as the Yorkshire giants are widely reported to be closing in on another right-back in Red Bull Salzburg’s Rasmus Kristensen [Sky Sports].
In other Leeds United news, the Whites reportedly want to sign this promotion-winning South American forward who could replace Raphinha.
