Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford exit update emerges ahead of January transfer window

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is unlikely to see many clubs taking an interest in matching his wages in January, according to Beren Cross.

The LeedsLive journalist reported on 11 November that it is unlikely that Daniel Farke would even sanction the Englishman’s exit due to Mateo Joseph’s lack of experience and Joel Piroe being inconsistent.

It’s also understood that Farke sees a future in which the 31-year-old gets regular starts this season and scores important goals.

Patrick Bamford can make an impact off the bench for Leeds United

At 31, Bamford is not getting any younger or fitter so it does make sense to think of a future without him.

However, Farke is right to be apprehensive as he can still make some kind of an impact during the business end of the season.

The best time to part ways with him would be in the summer and not in the middle of the season when promotion is within reach.

For all of Bamford’s flaws, it is undeniable that he can still influence games coming off the bench and can offer a lot off the ball too.

That said, it seems highly unlikely that Farke will start him regularly as he’s just not the clinical goal scorer he showed he could be under Marcelo Bielsa.

He’s also lacking match sharpness as he’s only played 56 minutes this season which is not ideal if he is viewed as a regular starter in the coming months.
