Leeds United still want to sign Adama Traore from Wolves this summer

Leeds United are interested in signing Wolves winger Adama Traore after Barcelona opted not to turn his loan deal into a permanent one.

The Whites have previously been interested in the 26-year-old Spain international, but he has always opted to move elsewhere including in January when he joined his boyhood club on loan for the second half of the season.

But despite an excellent start to that loan spell his form dwindled and Xavi has decided not to keep him around at the Camp Nou next year, but according to 90min [June 1] Wolves have opted to sell him anyway as he enters the final year of his contract.

Leeds, Tottenham and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in the lightning fast winger, who was described as ‘devastating‘ by Andy Townsend earlier this year.

There is no fee mentioned in the report, however with Raphinha expected to leave the club at some point this summer to join Barcelona any money from that sale could be put towards signing Traore.

Pace

The first word that comes to mind when thinking of Traore is ‘pace’, as he often glides past several players in a row multiple times a game because of his speed.

It’s something that Leeds are used to having in attack, with Raphinha, Daniel James and Jack Harrison all rapid in their own right.

Traore would bring some top level experience to the club too though having played in Europe with Barcelona last season in the Europa League.

He would need to improve on his final ball, but he showed early on in his spell in Spain that he is more than capable of getting goal contributions from the wing but he just needs to do it more consistently.

Marsch will feel he can help with that and with the high energy style he wants to implement Traore could be a perfect fit to the system at Elland Road for next season.
