Leeds United still want Kenny McLean transfer as £3m bid rejected already

Leeds United are still interested in signing Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean, despite having a £3million bid rejected previously, according to Darren Witcoop.

The Sunday Mirror journalist shared via his Twitter account on 30 August that Norwich are keen on keeping McLean at Carrow Road, but Leeds want to line up a reunion with former boss Daniel Farke.

McLean played under Farke during the German’s time at Norwich, and his former boss is now keen on making him the latest edition to his side at Elland Road as they look to push for promotion this season.

Lining up a reunion

McLean is the latest of Farke’s former players to be linked with a move to Elland Road, with the German boss clearly keen on bringing in experienced players who have worked under him before and understand his methods and style of play to improve his side.

Leeds have needed reinforcements in midfield this summer following the exits of Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Adam Forshaw and Brenden Aaronson, leaving Farke to start the opening games of the season with 17-year-old Archie Gray playing alongside Ethan Ampadu in the middle.

The Norwich midfielder would add some much-needed experience to a young Leeds side, and provide mentorship to the likes of Gray, Darko Gyabi and Jamie Shackleton who are likely to be heavily involved this season as fixture congestion piles up.

The 31-year-old made 35 Championship appearances for Norwich last season, having also played in the Premier League twice under Daniel Farke, making 68 top-division appearances over two separate seasons. It is that experience that he could bring with him to Elland Road.

This is one to watch.
