Leeds united and West Ham are still yet to agree a final fee for the transfer of Crysencio Summerville, according to Florian Plettenburg.

The Sky Sports Germany reporter posted on X (1 August) after Summerville completed a medical ahead of joining the Premier League side, but mentioned there are still final details "being worked out".

With a medical check completed and Summerville set to sign either a four or five-year deal at the London Stadium, the lack of synergy between the clubs over a finalised fee remains a factor.

Previous reports had suggested that the Whites were set to accept a bid of £25million plus add-ons for their star wideman [Dharmesh Sheth, 31 July], but that is yet to be agreed according to Plettenberg's update.

Leeds United playing hard-ball in Crysencio Summerville transfer

Given the Whites had reportedly turned down a £30m bid from Brighton for Summerville just a matter of weeks ago, fans will be happy to see them trying to push West Ham into paying up for the Dutchman.

The additional fees on top of the Irons' initial £25m transfer payment could reportedly total up to £34m if all conditions are met [Sean Whetstone, 1 August], netting the Peacocks a massive plus in terms of profit and sustainability.

However, most United fans would certainly rather have seen the initial fee be closer to that £34m, and thus the club's delay in agreeing the initial fee of £25m will be a popular move.

While no one at Elland Road will want to see Summerville leave this summer, the side's failure to win promotion, despite the Championship player of the Year's best efforts, was always set to prove costly.

Archie Gray's £40m departure to Spurs will have stung more, certainly in sentimental terms, but if Leeds can barter their way to an improved transfer fee for Summerville, they'll have plenty of time and plenty of money to find an adequate replacement.
