Leeds United still interested in Mohamed Camara as Tyler Adams talks advance

Leeds still have an interest in RB Salzburg midfielder Mohamed Camara, but talks with RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams are progressing according to Ryan Taylor.

The Whites are back in the transfer market for a midfielder as Kalvin Phillips looks set to join champions Manchester City in a £45m deal in the coming days.

Camara has been touted as a target for Jesse Marsch, and the player was excused from training with the Austrian outfit in order to sort out his future at the club.

However a fresh report from Ryan Taylor, via his personal Twitter account, claims that talks with RB Leipzig ace Adams are now progressing, but despite that the Whites still have an interest in signing the 22-year-old Mali international.

A report from Florian Plettenberg on Sunday [July 3] claimed Leeds are ready to table a £12.9m bid for the United States ace.

They’re also looking at Marsch’s former side for an attacking addition, with young striker Junior Adamu of interest. But Leeds will have to beat Bundesliga club Hoffenheim in the race for his signature should they choose to make a move.

One or both?

It’s already been reported that Leeds are “highly unlikely” to be signing both Camara and Adams this summer, but that doesn’t mean the club won’t try to do it if they think it’s the right thing to do.

Camara seems to be the more ideal target for the role, with Marc Roca already in to be able to take the load of the passing master in the centre, while Camara could provide the energy alongside him to win the ball back quickly. Total Football Analysis dubbed him “incredible” at doing exactly that.

Adams has a similar skillset and seems to be an easier target to acquire, with the Bundesliga club happy to let him leave and a lower fee being asked.

If it has to be one or the other then it makes sense as to why Leeds are pushing ahead with a move for Roberts, but keeping their options open is the smart thing to do in this instance.

Once the cash from player sales lands then Leeds will have a better understanding of what they can do in the market for replacements, and we could see movement quickly.
