Leeds United star Raphinha close to agreeing five-year Chelsea contract after £5.1m offer made
Raphinha is close to agreeing personal terms with Chelsea with the Leeds United winger’s camp seeking a five-year contract with an extra year’s option, according to Gianluigi Longari.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on 29 June, the SportItalia journalist made it clear that the deal isn’t completely finalised and suggested that Barcelona could still be in the race for the 25-year-old Brazil international.
Longari reported earlier on Wednesday that Chelsea have offered personal terms worth £5.1million to Raphinha, who now seems to be seeking a lengthy contract before making the move to Stamford Bridge.
Lengthy terms
You don’t see six-year contracts very often but if Raphinha and his camp get their way, it looks as though that’s what the Brazilian winger could get at Chelsea.
It’s unlikely that the Stamford Bridge club will agree such a long deal with Raphinha but he might be able to get himself that five-year deal without the option of an extra year.
Raphinha will be a very good signing for the Blues and we’ll hate to see him go.
However, if he’s going to go, at least Leeds can say they’re getting decent money for the ex-Rennes winger, who’s absolutely lit up Elland Road in his two years with the Yorkshire giants.

Raphinha will definitely go down as a modern-day great at Leeds United.
No one will be quick to forget the way he tore teams apart with his pace, aggression and dribbling technique while his ability to get on the scoresheet was unmatched at Leeds for large periods.
Raphinha’s form did drop at bit after he went away on international duty with Brazil in the winter but he got better as the season drew to a close and he played a major role in our survival.
We owe a lot to Raphinha so let’s all wish him the best at Stamford Bridge if that move does get rubber-stamped this summer.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are working on a quickfire signing to replace Raphinha with talks underway.
