Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips photoshopped in Newcastle kit as people vote

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been photoshopped wearing a Newcastle United kit amid an overdrive of transfer speculation at St James’ Park.

Since Newcastle’s Saudi takeover last week, numerous big-name players have been linked with a move to Tyneside.

Oddsbible posted on their Instagram story that Phillips, 25, is in contention to join the Magpies in the January transfer window and asked their followers to vote on whether a move would happen.

After 19 hours of voting, a staggering 42 per cent of people have voted that Phillips will join Newcastle before February 3 next year.

Below is a screenshot of the results of the poll.

Absolutely no chance

Newcastle may have all the money in the world – but they’re still going to be in a relegation battle this season.

They can sack Steve Bruce and bring in a good manager but they won’t be able to overhaul their squad in the January transfer window – this isn’t a game of career mode on FIFA.

Newcastle’s squad is very short of quality when you look away from Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin so they’ll be down there this season no matter who they hire as their next boss.

Yes, they’ll probably make some signings in January but they won’t be able to attract the crème de la crème while they’re still a team fighting for survival and who could be relegated.

Why would Phillips quit Leeds to join Newcastle in January? Right now, it’s either a sideways step or a backwards one. It’s definitely not a step forward.

Phillips loves Leeds and if he was going to leave, we’re sure that it would be for a team who is regularly in the top six and already established at winning silverware.

He’s good enough for Manchester City, Chelsea or Manchester United – easily.
