Leeds United stance on Max Wober exit as last-minute transfer approach prepared
Leeds United have no desire to let any players exit Elland Road before the transfer deadline as speculation swirls around Max Wober, according to Leeds Live.
The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (29 August) that Daniel Farke’s side isn’t eager to sanction any further departures before the transfer window slams shut on Friday 30 August.
Wober has been linked with a move away from the Championship club throughout the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting Borussia Monchengladbach are preparing a late attack for his services [Bild, 29 August, page 12].
The Austrian international is understood to be keen on a return to the Bundesliga club having spent last season on loan in Germany after the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League [Marlon Irlbacher, 24 August].
Will Max Wober exit Leeds United amid Elland Road transfer rumours?
Leeds United and Farke are not blessed with loads of defensive depth after a busy summer at Elland Road and therefore it would be a major risk if they were to allow Wober to exit at this stage of the window.
The Whites don’t have loads of time to replace the Austrian international if a deal were to be agreed upon with Monchengladbach before the 30 August deadline and that could change their stance in any last-minute negotiations.

Of course, every player does have a price and should the German club manage to find a way to match the Whites’ valuation of the defender in the coming hours, Farke’s side will be tempted to cash in.
Wober isn’t exactly a popular figure at Elland Road after he left Leeds in the lurch last summer and while he has been keen to make amends this year, the fans are yet to really take to him.
It will be interesting to see how this develops between now and the transfer deadline. It certainly wouldn’t be a total shock if Wober wasn’t a Leeds player when September rolls around.
