Leeds United stance on Illan Meslier sale emerges amid transfer links
Leeds United have no intention of selling shot-stopper Illan Meslier this summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The newspaper reported via their website on 21 July that despite recent rumours around the future of the ‘keeper, the Frenchman would be staying at Leeds.
French publication L’Equipe reported (11 July) that Marseille had been tracking Meslier but opted against making a move due to his high salary demands.
The YEP report also added that the Whites were unaware of the interest that Meslier had in him despite reports linking him with a move away from various outlets.
Leeds United keeping Illan Meslier is a good move
Meslier was a first-team regular for Leeds in the Championship last season and made 44 regular-season second-tier appearances with another three coming in the play-offs.
Although the season didn’t end the way that the West Yorkshire outfit would’ve wanted, the amount of fight that they showed throughout the season should be commended.
The club earned a total of 90 points and some of those were down to the solid performances from star man Meslier.
There were some question marks over his Leeds future [The Athletic, 14 June] at the start of the window when the club needed a big sale in order to abide by PSR.

However, whether fortunately or unfortunately, Archie Gray was the one who was sacrificed during the summer window.
Karl Darlow is a solid back-up to the Frenchman but, all in all, Meslier is the stronger goalkeeper of the two and Leeds will no doubt be happy to keep him around for another season.
In other Leeds news, Sam Byram has made a pre-season admission ahead of the start of the 2024/25 term.
