Leeds United stance emerges on Archie Gray amid rising interest from ‘major’ clubs

Leeds United are not looking to sell midfielder Archie Gray despite rising interest in signing him, according to 90min.

The news outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (14 November) that the 17-year-old has impressed scouts from all over Europe as several “major teams” are monitoring his progress.

It said Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United are keeping close tabs on the England U-19 international, while Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund have also sent scouts to watch him.

Fend them off

It’s extremely important that Leeds manage to fend off any potential suitors at least for the moment in time to ensure they receive a hefty fee for Gray if he does eventually leave the club.

As 90min reported, the teenager is unable to sign a professional contract at Elland Road until he turns 18 in March next year, meaning his value isn’t currently as high as it could be.

It will be difficult for the Whites to persuade the midfielder, who is currently playing at right-back, to remain at the club due to the pulling power of some of the sides that are interested in signing him.

The one thing they do have going in their favour, though, is that his first-team opportunities are much better with Leeds and that could be enough to keep hold of him.

It does seem as though the club are determined to ensure he remains a part of Daniel Farke’s side and the German will also be doing everything he can to convince him his future should be in West Yorkshire.
