Leeds United stance emerges after Brighton make contact to sign Crysencio Summerville after Red Bull investment
Leeds United are confident that any deal for Crysencio Summerville will be done on their terms after Brighton made contact about a transfer, according to YEP.
Writing on their website (17 June), the local news outlet report that the club expect the Dutch winger to leave after his breakout season in the Championship ended in disappointment in the playoff final.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Brighton have opened talks about a transfer, but while Leeds need to sell to avoid P&S breaches the Whites feel their new deal with Red Bull has significantly boosted their financial situation and that, along with the high interest in the 22-year-old, means they won’t need to sell on the cheap.
“YEP understands that the high level of interest and the number of potential suitors is one of two factors giving Leeds confidence that they can protect their financial interests in any deal,” they wrote.
“The energy drink giant became a minority stakeholder in Leeds United but the deal was structured in such a way that Red Bull also took over the club’s front-of-shirt sponsorship. That cash injection will be vital for Leeds when it comes to P&S this summer and club sources say it has put them in a far healthier position and able to make sure any exit will be on their own terms.”
Leeds United to sell Crysencio Summerville?
Leeds are going to be under big pressure to sell their top players this summer after effectively throwing promotion away during the Championship season.
There is nobody who is going to attract more attention or interest than Summerville this summer either, and with Paraag Marathe admitting sales are likely it makes him a prime candidate for departure.
Add to that the fact Summerville has just two years remaining on his contract and keeping him beyond this window would only see his value decrease unless he penned a new deal.

But now with Brighton making their move, it could see the dominoes begin to fall and other teams live Liverpool and Chelsea make their move too and spark a bidding war.
Ultimately Leeds want the absolute maximum they can get for their top players, and it now seems as though the club are calm about the situation after securing fresh investment.
In other Leeds news, the club only have a “slim hope” of sealing a key transfer deal this summer.
