Leeds United sources reveal 49ers Enterprises stance on Harry Gray loan deal

Leeds United are open to sending Harry Gray out on loan in the winter transfer window.

The 17-year-old has been a part of the Whites’ first-team squad on a couple of occasions this season as he continues to bang in goals for the Under-21 side.

Gray is attracting interest from multiple teams in the Championship, while England and Scotland fight for his international allegiance.

Daniel Farke has relied on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be his first-choice number nine in the current campaign, and that’s something the young centre-forward will be hoping he can achieve in the coming years in LS11.

Harry Gray loan decision to be cemented by Leeds United soon

As things stand, the Whites aren’t ruling out loaning Gray despite his young age, according to Leeds Live.

The news outlet reports on 21 November that while the teenager could leave Elland Road, the West Yorkshire outfit will only make a final decision on it closer to January.

With the academy graduate expected to be the next big thing at the Peacocks, the 49ers Enterprises will surely be diligent with how his development progresses.

Joe Gelhardt is thriving on loan at Hull City, which may prompt the LS11 hierarchy to consider the England Under-17 international’s departure midway through the season.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Gray follow the same career trajectory of his brother Archie Gray, who moved to Tottenham for around £30million last summer.

Daniel Farke to block another striker exit from Elland Road

Joel Piroe may not be allowed to leave Elland Road in the upcoming transfer window, with Farke surely thinking about his attacking depth.

Leeds will be left with Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Gray as their only options for the number nine position if the Dutchman leaves.

Gray’s record for Leeds’ Under-21 this season

The former Everton striker’s consistent fitness issues have been well recorded in recent seasons, while the Germany international also had similar concerns at VfL Wolfsburg.

It would be too much to ask Gray to be the third-choice striker in the Premier League this season, making Piroe’s exit an evident non-starter.
