Leeds United shut down Sebastiaan Bornauw transfer talks as return wanted
Daniel Farke values Sebastiaan Bornauw as the Leeds United defender attracts interest in the winter transfer window.
Joel Piroe isn’t the only player being monitored at Elland Road, with the former Wolfsburg centre-back on the shortlist of a few clubs.
Daniel Farke has had faith in Bornauw in recent weeks, but that’s because Jaka Bijol has been unavailable due to injury.
It makes sense for the Belgium international to be frustrated with his situation at the West Yorkshire outfit after making just seven appearances in the Premier League, and his situation is certainly one to keep an eye on.
Mainz want to take Sebastiaan Bornauw back to Bundesliga from Leeds United
Mainz are among the teams that have expressed interest in Bornauw, according to YEP.
The news outlet reports on 28 January that, although the 26-year-old moved to Elland Road last summer, the Bundesliga outfit want his return to Germany.
It’s been claimed that the Whites have shut down any suggestions that the Belgian defender could leave, citing his importance to the squad.
Farke has found success in the Premier League after coming under pressure a few weeks ago, and much of it has been down to the flexible system he’s been deploying since the Manchester City game on 29 November.

Bornauw has enjoyed more game time at the West Yorkshire outfit because the German manager has preferred playing a back three.
It wouldn’t make sense for Farke to sanction his exit as he doesn’t have a heap of defensive options at his disposal in LS11.
Daniel Farke may change mind on Sebastiaan Bornauw exit after transfer development
Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi is wanted at Elland Road, with Farke interested in the 27-year-old centre-back.
Leeds may be able to complete a bargain deal for the Dutchman, with his current contract at the Bundesliga outfit expiring at the end of the season.
If the West Yorkshire outfit can get a deal over the line for Doekhi, the German manager could potentially change his mind about selling Bornauw.
There are just a few days to go before the 2 February deadline, and fans in LS11 may be in for a surprise.
